Born in February 20th 1988, in Saint Michael, Barbados, as the oldest child of her siblings, Robyn Rihanna Fenty or known as Rihanna is a Bajan singer that was currently living in San Diego, California. Her Barbadian father, Ronald Fenty, her Guyanese mother, Monica Fenty and her two younger brothers were Rorrey and Rajad. She went to Charles F. Broome Memorial School which was a primary school in Barbados and then to one of older secondary schools, Combermere school, where she formed a musical trio with two of her classmates. She won the Miss Combermere Beauty Pageant in 2004 and performed in the Colours of Combermere School’s Show by singing Mariah Carey’s hit, Hero. Rihanna received the big break at the age 15 when one of her friends introduced her to music producers, Evan Rogers, who was vacationing with his wife in Barbados, along with his partner, Carl Sturken who’d helped Rihanna record material in U.S. which was sent to various recording companies. One copy of Rihanna’s work was sent to Jay-Z, who eventually signed her to Def Jam Records. Alicia Keys, Beyonce Knowles and her Carribean background had been cited by her during in the interview as major musical influences. She’s also stated that her friend and former Island Def Jam Records label Artist Fefe Dobson was someone that she admired and looked up to, having a fellow artist writing, singing, and performing the music she’s truly love.

Her very first debut album called ‘Music of the Sun’ which was released on 30th August 2005 with the hot singles like ‘Pon de Replay’ had reached at #2 in U.S. Billboard Hot 100. In her interview with AskMen magazines, Rihanna noted that it was released quickly after she was discovered in her home as a means of a portraying her image as a girl from a small area who had moved to a large country in line with her debut. She’s also participated in endorsement deals including for Nike and J.C. Penney in 2006. Her song called ‘SOS’ taken from her second album, ‘A Girl Like Me’ had reached #1 on Billboard Hot 100. In total, Rihanna had 11 different #1s on the Billboard Charts and had major success in Hot Dance Club Play with four #1s singles such as ‘Pon de Replay’, ‘SOS’, ‘Unfaithful’ and ‘We Ride’. When she had received an endorsement deal from Clinique, she’d recorded a song with Ne-Yo entitled ‘Just Be Happy’ as part of the deal for promoting their Happy fragrance. It can be heard on her Myspace page. Recently, Rihanna had been recorded a song called ‘Winning Women’ alongside with Nicole Scherzinger of Pussycat Dolls for P&G’s female deodorant Secret. She had expanded her career into acting as she had appeared in cameo role in Bring It On: All or Nothing which was released on August 8th, 2006 and in an episode of American Soap Opera All My Children and the drama Las Vegas.

Rihanna’s third album called ‘Good Girl Gone Bad’ had features Jay-Z and Ne-Yo as the feature artist in the album. Her first singles from the third album called ‘Umbrella’ featuring Jay-Z was released on March 29th, 2007 had reached #1 in various countries. She’s working with Timbaland on three songs in the album. In her personal life, Rihanna had been reported to be dated with R&B singer, Chris Brown. However, Rihanna had denied the rumor and stated that they’re just friends. She had seeing Chris Brown as her ‘brother’. Then again, the rumors had surfaced when she was reportedly dated with B2K singer Omarion and once again she denies the rumor. After two times she had denied the rumors, another rumor coming up when she was reportedly dated with the Tranformers and also Malcolm In Middle actor, Shia Lebeouf. Although, recently they officially stated both of them they were dating as she denied the rumor earlier. Rihanna had been spotted with Justin Timberlake at her hotel, after the 2007 MTV VMA Awards, leading some to say that they’re slept with each other. However, at the same time, Justin Timberlake had relationship with the actress, Jessica Biel. Rihanna had won the Monster Single of the Year at MTV VMA for the singles ‘Umbrella’ on September 9th, 2007. She’s also had won the category, video of the year for the ‘Umbrella’ and these two awards made her the big winner of the show alongside with Justin Timberlake.
